Representatives from Mediterranean Port’s Authorities, railway sector technicians, chambers of commerce, employer associations, and other key stakeholders, gathered in Tarragona on June 19th, 2023, to celebrate FERRMED’s extraordinary general assembly, in an event presided by Tarragona’s harbor President, Mr. Saül Garreta, joined by the President of FERRMED, Mr. Joan Amorós. Around 30 people attended both in person and online.

During the event Mr. Amorós also assessed the status of FERRMED’s Study of Traffic and Modal Shift Optimisation in the EU. A prominent representation of around 50 key stakeholders was in attendance, representing the Tarragona town hall, the Government’s office Delegation, the Engineer’s association of Valencia and several companies.  

FERRMED’s President, Mr. Joan Amorós, brought the audience up to speed on how the organization has devoted itself intensely on finalizing the study of +FIRRST, FERRMED’s Fast, Flexible, Integrated Rail-Road System of Transport.

+FIRRST results will be presented in the fall in Brussels.

The updates on +FIRRST were warmly welcomed by the audience. And as a continuation of the meetings held around Europe with several key stakeholders,  FERMMED will continue with new meetings to include concrete actions, contrasted with local socio-economical agents, in the study’s final report.
